Local Partner Spotlight: Watermelon Peach Salsa with Yarnick’s Farm

And just like that…It’s August!

Though the Summer season is slowly starting to wind down, we continue to celebrate all of our amazing local partners and their incredible products. After all, summer is the perfect time to focus on sustainably sourcing our food, as we called out in our Tomato and Arugula Linguine Post!  Through building relationships with local partners who share our values and passion for high quality foods, we not only decrease our ecological footprint, but also support businesses and families, and that’s what this post is all about.

Recently, some members of our Pittsburgh-based Parkhurst team hit the road to visit one of our local partners, Yarnick’s Farm. Located in the rolling hills of Indiana, PA, Yarnick’s family owned and operated farm spans over 250 acres and is filled with fresh produce, greenhouses, and a farmer’s market.

What’s most exciting is that we team up with dozens of farms like Yarnick’s throughout the Mid-Atlantic, North East, and Midwest, within the unique, individual communities that we do business. Sourcing locally means constantly seeking opportunities to team up with local farms!  And it’s not hard when it’s this much fun:

If you have a favorite local spot like Yarnick’s, our end-of-summer recipe will be even sweeter. Enjoy!
